Weekend Agenda
Friday, January 27
- Hotel Check-in begins at 3 PM Friday, and we will officially kick-off the seminar with an opening reception (beginning at 6 PM), dinner and discussion at the beautiful Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art.
Saturday, January 28
- Saturday will feature two seminars, some downtime and a casual dinner setting that will encourage continued dialogue and reflection. Overlooking the Charleston Harbor, seminar sessions will focus on these themes:
Seminar I: Caring for Yourself
Seminar II: Commitment and Choices
Sunday, January 29
- Sunday begins with our final seminar, Staying True to Yourself, followed by our capstone event of the weekend: Finding Your Voice. Glenis Redmond – Poet, Teaching Artist, Imagination Activist – will bring out the poet in each one of us in this interactive approach to Mind. Body. Soul.
About Glenis
Glenis Redmond is Poet-in-Residence at the Peace Center for the Performing Arts and a native of Greenville. She founded The Asheville Poetry Slam, where a tribe of poets answered her Afro-Carolinian call and response poetry stride for stride. Enlivened by this movement, she became a true believer of words that sing and dance in the air.
Glenis believes poetry is the mouth that speaks, when all other mouths are silent.
